When you buy fireworks online for the first time it can be daunting. If at any point you would rather just talk it over, give the Fantastic Fireworks team a call on 0800 511 511 . Our staff will help advise you on everything from firing orders to noise levels for our display fireworks. The main things to consider when you buy fireworks online are:
Those are our ‘bangometer’ icons, designed to help you buy fireworks online. They each work on a scale of 1-10 and give you an indication of each firework’s noise level, colour, altitude and duration.
• How many fireworks do you want to light?
If you'd rather just light one fuse and watch your fireworks display, look no further than the Fantastic Fireworks single ignition fireworks display boxes. If you’re happy to light as many fireworks as it takes to keep everyone happy, then make sure you include rockets, as they provide the most spectacular effects.
• Is noise an issue?
We can cater for both the noisiest and the most sensitive fireworks displays. If you don’t want to upset the kids or the nearby animals, make sure you look out for our bangometer which will indicate the noise level, on a scale of 1-10 of each firework effect. It's also a good idea to let your neighbours know if you are planning a fireworks display, especially if it is on a less common night for letting off fireworks ie outside of Bonfire Night or New Year's Eve).
• How do I structure my fireworks display?
This is a bit like writing a book in that a fireworks display needs a beginning, a middle and an end. Our single ignition boxes can do all that for you, but if you want to pick your own, then look at our openers & finale fireworks for the effects we think are best used to either grab the audience's attention or leave them in no doubt that they're witnessing a finale. Alternatively, you could start with a single ignition display box, then add a finale at the end, either from the ‘openers/finales’ section, or by using some big rockets. Another thing to consider is a Good Night sign, or more personal firewords (Name + Number e.g. Henry 40) to round off the night. Of course, the sign you choose depends on whether you are celebrating a birthday, a wedding, Bonfire Night, or any type of celebration! Finally, if in doubt, buy fireworks which are ready assembled in one of our special packs seen at the top of our homepage and we’ll send you the firing order. Easy!
• Will the audience be able to see everything?
We have some incredible ground level display fireworks, like catherine wheels, waterfalls and Fantastic Fountains. These can complement the more aerial fireworks or work as standalone effects, especially if noise is an issue – but will the audience be able to see them? If you’re firing from behind a wall or up on a raised surface, then the answer may be no.
• How long should my fireworks display last?
We can only advise you of our opinion on this one, but consider the following: is your fireworks display the main event of the evening? If not (ie it’s a wedding, where the fireworks will be one of several highlights), then between four and eight minutes is perfect. Any longer and you will lose to WOW factor of your fireworks display. Think of those best man speeches which start off really funny but then drag on to over half an hour, you don’t want people wishing your display was shorter. Leave them wanting more, as they say! If, however, you are hosting a bonfire night party, whether it be at home or for a Scout Club or School PTA fireworks evening, then it needs to be longer...but not too long. Aim for 20 minutes, and if it goes over that by a couple of minutes, then fine. Remember, with Category 3 display fireworks, it is always far more likely to run over time than come up short because of the time it takes to light each firework.
As a final point on the above, Fantastic Fireworks fires hundreds of professional wedding fireworks displays and professional bonfire night displays every year. Four to six minutes is the average wedding/private party display duration, while for bonfire night displays the average is 20 minutes. No matter what the budget, these average durations work, trust us!
If you need more detail on the above, our Fantastic Fireworks blog does its best to cover all the types of things you need to consider when you are looking to buy fireworks online.
